PARENTS ZONE

We recognise the importance of all possible precautions being taken to ensure that, while in our care, young people are provided with a safe environment for all activities and events.

This is covered by a number of different areas for consideration.

Officer’s Qualifications and Training

All BB Officers undertake training when they become Officers and are then registered nationally. In addition, each Officer has to re-train every 5 years.

In addition, all Officers consent to their personal details being vetted for their suitability to work with children and young people and undergo a complete full Disclosure Scotland check.

All Officers undertake Church of Scotland Child Protection Training.

Specialist training is also required to gain certificates for specific activities such as Camp Craft, Camp & Holiday Leadership, Expedition, First Aid and Basic Food Hygiene. We are pleased to confirm that we have staff with all of these qualifications.

Annual Consent Forms

At the start of each session, every member will be issued with a Company Registration Form and an Annual Consent Form. Both of these forms require to be completed and handed back to the relevant officer in charge. The Annual Consent Form covers your son for all activities listed on the form with the exception of any overnight or special events. You must have completed an Annual Consent Form or Registration Form, or your son will not be officially registered as a Company member.

In addition, if separate activities are undertaken; such as camping, hill walking or another special event, a further special consent form should be completed. Special Event Consent Forms will be issued by Sectional Officer In Charge as and when required.

Insurance

At the start of each session, we as a Company have to submit Capitation Fees for each boy to Brigade Headquarters. This covers each boy and officer's registration as a member, and part of it is a contribution for insurance. For Session 2009 - 2010 the following registration fees will be payable: Anchor Boys : £ 5.00. Junior Section : £ 10.00, Company / Senior Section : £ 10.00.

With these measures in place, you can have peace of mind while your son enjoys the varied programme of activities in 2nd Cambusnethan BB Company.
