Ben Nevis 2008

A group of Company Section members, staff and some members of the Cambusnethan Churches Walking Group headed north to Fort William on Friday 13th June 2008 to conquer the highest mountain in the United Kingdom; Ben Nevis. The group after a restful night camping set off on in the morning to start climbing the mountain to reach the summit, at 1,344 metres (4,409 ft) above sea level. The summit features the ruins of an observatory, which was permanently staffed between 1883 and 1904. The meteorological data collected during this period is still important for understanding Scottish mountain weather.

During the ascent the group had to endure the weather elements of rain, hail, snow and glorious sunshine. However the variety of weather added to the enjoyment and fellowship experienced over the weekend.

A special mention should be made to Verve Rental of Wishaw who supplied the minibus to the group for the weekend.

2009 will see the company setting out in June to conquer the highest mountain in England; Scafell Pike. We hope you enjoy some of the photographs taken during the weekend.
